Where I'm from Poem
I come from rules.
My mom always told me that tough love is still love.
All the other kids have curfews,
but where I come from, you don’t have a curfew
because you don’t have anywhere to go.
I am from Wheel of Fortune every night,
from American Idol on Mondays.
I’m from Costco Sampling every Sunday,
from eating at the same oriental restaurant for everyone’s birthday.
I come from the smell of coffee in the morning,
a fresh pot of rice at every meal.
I am from Harry Potter, and Roald Dahl, and the Tale of Despereaux.
Where I’m from, no questions are asked. Its just a simple, “Yes Ma’am”.
Where I’m from, you learn respect and courage.
You learn the importance of elders,
the importance of education.
I’m from transformers, and pokemon.
Large bins filled with action figures and barbies.
I’m from memories stored away
I’m from staring out a window all day
wondering if these memories would leave too.
